Reinforcing or Dismantling Equipment Reinforcing and Dismantling
Equipment reinforcement raises an item's reinforcement level using the Intensifying Elixir. The level is shown behind the item name as (+number), and the higher it is, the more powerful the item. An item with no reinforcement becomes (+1) on a successful attempt, and an item with an existing level gains +1. Weapons and shields may gain special lighting effects on their surface as the level increases.
How to Reinforce Equipment
- Gather the item to be reinforced, the Intensifying Elixir and the Lucky Powder. Intensifying Elixirs are categorized into weapons, armor, shields and accessories, and the elixir's category must match the item's.
- Open the Alchemy window and select the 'Reinforcement' tab. The Alchemy window is opened by clicking the Alchemy icon in the Actions window [A] or by pressing the shortcut key [Y].
- Place the item to be reinforced, the Intensifying Elixir and the Lucky Powder. The Lucky Powder is optional and increases the chance of success; items can be reinforced without it.
- Click 'Reinforce'. Once the gauge is filled, the reinforcement succeeds or fails depending on the success rate.
Reinforcement Failure
| Reinforcement level | What happens on failure |
|---|---|
| +0 – +4 | The reinforcement level is initialized. |
| +5 or greater | The reinforcement level is always initialized. In addition, the item's maximum durability decreases, or the item itself is destroyed. |
Reinforcement Aid
During reinforcement you can buy Lucky Powder from a General Store in any town to raise the chance of success. Lucky Powder comes in different reinforcement levels, and its grade must match the grade of the equipment being reinforced. Equipment items may also carry magical properties that help the process. These are displayed as (number of times available) and the number decreases by 1 with each use.
| Property | Effect |
|---|---|
| Luck (times available) | Increases the chance of success. |
| Sturdy (times available) | Prevents the decrease of maximum durability. |
| Indestructible (times available) | Prevents the destruction of the item. |
| Astral (times available) | When the level of an item at +4 or greater is about to be initialized, it is maintained at +4 instead. |
- 'Sturdy' and 'Indestructible' only apply to items with a reinforcement level of +5 or greater.
- The number of the 'Astral' property cannot be greater than that of 'Indestructible'.
- The success/failure of reinforcement is determined by a rate preset per level: the higher the reinforcement level, the lower the chance of success.
- Intensifying Elixirs are obtained by hunting monsters.
How to Dismantle Equipment
- Open the Alchemy window and click the 'Dismantle' tab (via the Actions window [A] or the shortcut key [Y]).
- Place a 'Destroyer Rondo' on the left side of the Dismantle window. Once it is in place, put the equipment item on the right. Only one equipment item can be destroyed at a time.
12th Grade and Higher: Differences
Note: at 110 cap the highest item degree is 11, so these rules apply to higher-degree items you will not meet on SeaSRO. They are included for completeness because the official documentation covers them.
- Items at the 12th grade and higher cannot be destroyed with the 'Destroyer Rondo'.
- Lucky Powder cannot be used with them.
- The Astral, Indestructible, Sturdy and Luck properties are not available for them.
- The enhancement level is capped at +12.
- They can only be reinforced with the new reinforcement material (Enhancer).
- Advanced Elixirs and Magic Proof Stones cannot be used with them.
How to reinforce
- Gather the item and an Enhancer or Grand Enhancer, then open the Alchemy window and select the 'Reinforcement' tab. Enhancers and Grand Enhancers are categorized into weapons, armor, shields and accessories, and the categories must match.
- Place the item to be reinforced and the matching Enhancer. Enhancers are obtained by hunting monsters and can only be used on items of the 12th grade and higher.
- Click 'Reinforce'. Upon success the reinforcement level increases by 1.
On failure: both the item and the Enhancer are destroyed. When a Magic Proof Stone is used, the item is prevented from destruction but the reinforcement level is decreased by 1.
Note: the same official page also states in the list above that Magic Proof Stones cannot be used at the 12th grade and higher. Both statements are reproduced as they appear in the official text.
