There are three jobs derived from the caravan in Silkroad. Every job has its own attractions and advantages, and users can freely choose to be a merchant, a hunter or a thief.
| Merchant | Hunter | Thief |
|---|---|---|
| Merchants play the central role in the caravan, circulating goods and making employments through contracts with hunters. | Protecting players and justice from all sorts of criminals that bring chaos to game order. | Not aware of other people and used to committing evil deeds, they try to make easy money by selling goods stolen from merchants. |
Job Union (Guild)
To become a merchant, hunter or thief you must join the guild of that profession. The guilds administer and control the activities of the profession, and all activities related to it can be checked there.
1. How to join a guild
- One can join a Merchant or Hunter guild through the merchant or hunter guilder NPCs in each village.
- One can join a Thief guild through the thief guilder NPC in the bandit villages, which are reached through Yumi the Gisaeng in Jangan and Cartino the soldier in Constantinople.
2. Guild admission requirements
- Character level 20 or higher
- Not a member of another guild
- Paying an expense depending on your level when joining
- If you engaged in other guild activities, all previous records will be initialized.
3. Quitting a guild
- Withdraw from membership through the union NPC without wearing a uniform.
- Your nickname in that guild is deleted.
- You are not allowed to join a guild within 7 days of withdrawal.
- All information regarding the withdrawn guild is initialized.
Job Alias
The alias is the name shown while engaging in job activities — anything done while wearing the uniform. Using an alias prevents conflicts arising from job activity from affecting general activity. You must have an alias to do job activities.
1. How to obtain an alias
- Contact the guilder NPC and select the [Create Nickname] menu.
- You may not use your full character name or a nickname already in use.
- The same rules as character names apply: up to 12 alphabetical letters.
2. Modify / delete an alias
- Contact a guilder NPC without wearing a job suit to change your nickname.
- Changing it requires a fee depending on the character's level.
- After withdrawing from a guild the nickname is deleted. Once changed or deleted, it can never be used again.
3. Nickname rules
- An asterisk (*) marks the alias and distinguishes it from a character name.
- Under the nickname you cannot use Whisper, Message or Add Friends.
- Your nickname is shown in the Party Window, Party Chat, Public Chat, Party Match and Target Window.
- Your character name is shown in Global Chat, Guild Chat, Alliance Chat and the Guild Window.
- While using the nickname, the name of the guild your character belongs to is not shown.
Job Items
Merchants, hunters and bandits purchase their respective job items from their guilder NPC. You must wear your job item to engage in job activities. Each job item is given a special magical attribute according to the profession.
1. Wearing job items
- Job items are installed in the job slot of the character items window.
- Create a nickname before installing them; the items can only be installed in villages.
- They cannot be installed during a party.
- When installing a job item you are relocated in front of the village portal.
